European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Swiss pharmaceuticals group Roche will cut 60 out of 310 research and development jobs at its Mannheim plant. This is due to a reorganisation of Roche's global research and development activities in the diabetes segment.
While Mannheim will become the centre for insulin pumps and continuous blood glucose monitoring, the development of blood sugar meters will be centralized in Indianapolis, USA, where the reorganization will affect 40 posts.
A timeframe for the redundancies is not yet fixed. Talks with the German works council are yet to be held, although it is stated that direct dismissals are to be prevented.
This follows earlier redundancies at the Mannheim plant, where Roche announced the cutting of 150 jobs in March 2012 (see here).
