Description
Schott Solar, a producer of solar panels, will dismiss 500 employees due to the decision to cease production at the Valašské Meziříčí plant. The plan will be implemented over the period July-August 2012.
The photovoltaic products industry has been affected by a gradual decline in prices, which is reported to have occurred mainly due to the competition with cheaper Asian products.
The mayor of Valašské Meziříčí called for a search of alternative solutions to the problems in the industry, such as alternative forms of employment in solar energy companies.
