National Irish Bank has announced plans to make more than 100 staff redundant and close its network of 27 branches nationwide. Within the next five months, the bank's branches will all be shut and, instead, customers will be channelled through nine 'personal banking centres'.
The bank said the restructuring of its retail business reflects the radically changed banking environment in Ireland as well as changes in customer behaviour to telephone and on-line banking.
