Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Italian truck manufacturer Iveco has announced plans to close five of its European sites in 2012, of which three are located in Germany. In Germany, a total of 890 jobs will be cut.
The plants at Wesiweil (200 jobs) and Görlitz (20 jobs) will be closed as a new 'competence centre' for the manufacturing of fire fighting vehicles will be established in Ulm. Despite of the concentration of the production in Ulm, the company's site in Ulm will be equally affected with 670 planned job losses.
The works council has signaled to fight against the job cuts.
Globally, Iveco aims to cut 1,075 jobs.
