Description
Nimbus Boats Holding, a Swedish manufacturer of leisure boats for cruising and sports, has filed for bankruptcy for Nimbus Boats Holding and its subsidiaries Nimbus Boats, Storebro Bruks, Ryds Båtindustri and Nimbus Production in Mariestad. As a result 200 employees will lose their jobs.
It is reported that the reason for the bankruptcy is a sharp drop in demand since mid-2008. Despite efforts to save the company by cutting staff and closing facilities during the recent years, the board eventually decided to file for bankruptcy.
Since 2006 Nimbus has been owned by a private equity firm, Altor. The bankruptcy petition does not include Nimbus Stockholm / NIMAX Marina (not a subsidiary).
