Description
On 28 June 2012, solar wafer manufacturer Schott announced to close down great parts of its photovoltaic division. In Germany, 220 job will be affected at Schott's headquarters in Mainz and at its site in Alzenau.
In total, the restructuring will lead to 870 job cuts out of 1,100 jobs worldwide. Job cuts are due to losses. The company seeks to realize the downsizing in a socially acceptable manner.
