The Portuguese Government announced termination of the employment contracts of the workers of the New Opportunities Centres which operate in public schools. As a result, according to the estimations by the National Professional Association of Adult Education and Vocational Training, about 250 people will lose their jobs.
According to the National Agency for Qualification and Vocational Education and Training this measure may be implemented through collective dismissal or dismissal as a result of the dissolution of the job post.
The Portuguese Government set a deadline of 40 working days for the dismissals. The reductions are to be completed by the end of September 2012.
