Description

Yamaha Motor, a Japanese vehicle manufacturer, closes its Spanish production plant in Barcelona and moves its scooter production to Saint-Quentin (France). The relocation creates 100 jobs in France, but will make 500 jobs in Spain redundant. A timeline for the restructuring has yet to be announced.

With the decision to relocate the production of its popular scooters 250 X-Max and 125 X-MAX, Yamaha Motor finalizes a long decision making process about the preferred production site (see factsheet 16741). A French spokesman of Yamaha Motor explained the relocation with better expansion possibilities in France and a below par production quality in the Spanish plant.
