On 31 May 2012, the Local Government in Białystok (Poland) announced plans to cut 230 jobs in the education sector. 80 teachers in local schools and another 150 employees working within the sector will lose their job by the end of August 2012.
Bialystok Local Government, like other local governments in Poland, reduces the employment in education due to the "baby bust" phenomenon and the related necessity for public expenditure cuts.
