European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
US-based multinational pharmaceutical firm Merck has applied for a redundancy procedure affecting 20 % of its Spanish workforce. 200 employees will be affected by this procedure, which was recently agreed with the Trade Unions.
The company has blamed the measure on the changes in the Spanish health sector aiming to save costs and the need to optimise resources.
