Description
Scottish travel agency Barrhead Travel plans to open a call centre in Cumbria, creating 100 new jobs. The agency will specialize in cruise and holiday destinations such as Peru or Vietnam.
It has been reported the company chose Cumbria because two other travel agencies (Thomas Cook and Co-Op) are closing down a cruise centre in the same location, which leads to around 55 staff being dismissed.
The initiative to open the new site came after the company reported an increase in turnover in 2011 and the first quarter of 2012.
