Description
Österreichische Post, a large Austrian postal service provider which is majority state-owned, is to cut 600 to 800 of its 19,000 jobs in 2012. The step is reported to be caused by the need to reduce personnel costs.
Over 10,000 of the company's employees are tenured civil servants and thus enjoy de facto permanent status. For them, a redeployment process to join the police and ministries has started in 2009; so far, only 320 of them have accepted the offer.
