Description
On 10 April 2012, following a strike of 350 workers against planned job cuts, steel mill Huta Batory announced its plans to shut down one of the steel department and dismiss 124 people.
Workers are reported to be disappointed and afraid that the steel department will resume a production, but the staff will be re-employed by a temporary employment agency on worse employment conditions. Announced reductions have triggered new protests among the crew.
Huta Batory was founded in 1872 and is currently owned by Alchemia.
