Description
On 2 April 2012, US-based chemical producer Dow Chemical announced the closure of four plants and the loss of 900 jobs. The restructuring affects 1,7% of its total workforce (52,000 employees). The company expects to close plants which produce insulation material in Brazil, Portugal, Hungary and United States (Illinois). The plant making styrofoam in the Netherlands will be put into idle mode. The group attributes the decision to the weak European construction market.
