Description
Spanish household appliance retailer Establiments Miro has presented a labour force adjustment plan to the Ministry of Labour which will affect 200 jobs.
The plan has already been agreed with employees, who will be compensated with a 25 day salary per year worked. The restructuring will also result in the closure of four stores. This plan comes on top the recent redundancy plan presented in the Basque Country, which will result in the loss of 46 jobs at its RTV Bermudez subsidiary. After the restructuring Miro will employ some 630 workers and operate 100 stores.
UPDATE, 01/03/2012: According to latest media reports, 265 jobs will be affected by the labour force adjustment plan presented in January 2012. Most affected locations are Catalonia, Basque Country, Valladolid, Albacete and Balearic Islands. In 2011 the company had another labour force adjustment plan approved which resulted in the dismissal of 493 workers. There is still no timeline of the planned dismissals.
