Description

The Maple Leaf Bakery in Walsall has announced plans to close in early 2012 resulting in the loss of 236 jobs. The closure was decided after a deal with a potential buyer fell through. It has been clear since November that the company would terminate its sliced bread business.

The bakery has a long history dating back to the 19th century.
