Description

Budapest Airport has notified the authorities about the dismissal of 250 employees in the next months following the closure of the MALÉV operations. The redundancies account for 20 to 25 % of the entire workforce at Budapest Airport.

The bankruptcy of the airline MALÉV affects the workload of Budapest Airport, which is reported to make an internal restructuring necessary. The airport lost some 1.5mn transit passengers carried by Malev previously. The company will freeze all investment and development plans for an indefinite timeframe.

The company has started consultations with the trade union right after the announcement and assured the provision of a support program for the affected employees.
