Description
The steel company ArcelorMittal announced to its European Works Council that over 1,100 jobs will be cut at the Galati site in Romania. The redundancies will be implemented until the end of 2012.
The measure is part of a restructuring programme for the European steel production promoted by the group. It involves cuts in Poland, Belgium and the Czech Republic amongst others.
At present the Galati factory employs approximately 10,000 people. ArcelorMittal has 265,000 employees worldwide .
