Description

Clothes retail chain Peacocks has announced that 249 staff have been made redundant as the firm went into administration. This equals half of the staff at Peacock's head office in Cardiff.

The 9,000 people employed in Peacock stores across the UK are kept on as the administrators are looking for buyers.

The company was unable to restructure £240m debts, and Royal Bank of Scotland informed the company it was unwilling to sustain support for the company.
