Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 21 December 2011, construction group Ballast Nedam announced it will cut 115 jobs at its regional infrastructure division. This accounts for 20% of the company's total workforce. It is reported that forced redundancies have not been ruled out by the company.
Background for the redundancies is weakened market conditions and the postponement of activities by local governments.
