European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Ireland's Education Minister is proceeding with proposals to cut almost 430 teachers from disadvantaged schools despite complaints from disgruntled backbenchers. He has told Labour politicians that there is no "magic wand" to solve the problem as he brings in €76m of cutbacks in the education budget; in the context of the country's continuing economic difficulties.
Teacher numbers will be cut under the Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) scheme announced in year's December 2011 Budget.
