The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Airline Air Europa has applied for a labour ajustment plan affecting 260 employees in different Spanish regions. The dismissal will affect 46 pilots, 22 flight attendants, 45 maintenance technicians and 147 ground stewardesses. The cuts account for 8.5% of the workforce.
The measure is said to be necessary in order to decrease operating expenditures and to be competitive with low-cost carriers. According to the company, these measures are necessary to ensure the viability of the company.
No timeline for the redundancy procedure has been given.
