Description

AnsaldoBreda, an Italian manufacturer of rail transport vehicles, is to cut 1,388 jobs by the end of 2014. The company has announced in its 2012-2014 reorganization plan that it envisages 102 job cuts in 2012, 786 in 2013 and 500 job cuts in 2014. Moreover, in the next three years, the company's business units will be reorganized and rationalized.

In 2012 the job losses will affect plants located in Pistoia (75), Palermo (15) and Naples (12). The company provides for the recourse to Wage Guarantee Fund schemes for the redundant workers.

The trade unions reacted to the company's decision announcing a four-hour strike for Monday, 23 January. It is reported that the company is planning meetings with the trade unions in the next months.

AnsaldoBreda belongs to the Finmeccanica group. It has 2,232 employees in Italy.
