Description

On 16 November 2011, manufacturer of wire products Drumet and three local trade unions signed an agreement on a collective dismissal programme. The company is to reduce 12% of its workforce; 90 of 715 workers will be redundant. This is less than initially announced; the company planned to dismiss 105 workers.

The affected workers will receive a severance pay. The redundancies will be realized in two stages - the first group of workers (35 people) was dismissed in November, and the second group (55 people) will be dismissed in December. The programme affects only office staff and other auxiliary staff (beyond the production department).

Drumet has been operating in Włocławek since 1895. In 2011 the company was acquired by WireCo WorldGroup - a global company manufacturing, engineering and distributing wire, wire rope, wire rope assemblies and electromechanical cable.
