European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 30 November 2011, Imprimerie Le Monde and social partners reached an agreement on a Job saving plan involving 161 job cuts.
Imprimerie Le Monde is a subsidiary of the press editor Group Le Monde which prints the daily newspaper Le Monde and has printed several dailies like "The Herald Tribune", "Les Echos" or "Journal du Dimanche".
As the printer lost all its clients it had to launch a strong restructuring plan in agreement with its unions. According to this plan, the printer will keep 84 employees on a total of 245 (223 on permanent employment contract and 22 on temporary employment contract). A negotiation will now start on the level of compensations for the redundant employees. The printer will keep only one rotary press and externalise a part of the printing to printers of regional dailies. A new plant could be created by the printer Ricobono in the Parisian region, which could take over 35 Imprimie Le Monde employees.
The printer lost 3 million Euros in 2011 and would lost 10 million Euros in 2012 without restructuring plan.
