Description
On the 25th of October 2011 Franco-Belge de Fabrication Fuel (FBFC), a manufacturer of fuel assemblies for nuclear reactors, has announced to cut 180 jobs. It notified its central European work council of the decision of closing the Dessel plant of the group. The closure will start in March 2012.
It is said that the closure is taking place due to a decrease in the demand of nuclear combustible.
The management has declared their willingness for constructive bargaining. The unions regret the way the announcement took place (French media knew about it a few days before the declaration) and are said to be surprise by the disregard for the "information step" as provided by the collective dismissal legislation.
