Description

Rdb, one of Italy's leading companies in the construction sector, is to close six plants with the loss of 600 jobs (out of 1,100). The plants affected by the restructuring are located in the North of the country (Occimiano, in the province of Alessandria; Lomello, in the province of Pavia; Lomagna, in the province of Lecco; Villafranca, in the province of Verona; Osio, in the province of Bergamo); in the Centre (Montepulciano, in the province of Siena); and in the South (Bitetto, in the province of Bari).

Sectoral trade unions have harshly criticized both the company's decision and the Ministry of Development actions. According to the unions, the Ministry did not take effective measures to avoid the closure of the plants.
