Description

On 20 October 2011, the electronic component manufacturer Freescale announced that its Toulouse plant will be closed in June 2012 instead of January 2012. According to the management, layoff notice will be sent out to the 821 employees in June. Additionally, between 450 and 500 temporary workers are also affected by the closure.

The company decided to close the plant in 2009, but now it has to react to an increase in demand of its customers who want to stock up on components before the closure. The management explained that the plant will nevertheless close in June 2012.

UPDATE, 26 April 2012: the management decided to close the site in Augus 2012. Between 500 and 580 permanent employees are working there and about 500 temporary workers.
