Description

Finnish software developer Digia has announced another round of possible lay-offs of up to 80 employees from its Finnish units. It is starting negotiations with employee representatives.

This is the fourth round of restructuring negotiations for Digia in 2011. The company had just concluded one round of lay-offs (170 persons) from its Mobile Solutions business. It now states that its division into Mobile Solutions and Enterprise Solutions is no longer justified and it aims to remove any overlap. This time, jobs subject to negotiations are ones that were not at risk in the previous round of restructuring negotiations.

Digia's problems stem from its declining subcontracting from the mobile phone maker Nokia, which itself is undergoing major restructuring.
