Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
BioWare game development company - a division of Electronic Arts - has announced plans to recruit a further 200 workers for its operation in Galway, bringing to 400 the number that will be employed there. At the recent opening of a new global customer service centre, the company said it had chosen Ireland as a location because it had a steady supply of well-educated people.
It also pointed to State supports and said there was a great partnership between BioWare and the Government that would allow the company to expand further in the coming years. Recruitment for the new jobs has started. The centre in Galway will provide support for gamers in the English, French and German languages.
