Description
On 27 September, the Commercial court of Aubenas announced the take-over of the envelope manufacturer GPV by the German company Mayer-Kuvert (2100 employees, turn-over of around 320 millions euro), with the loss of 225 jobs. Of the 225 job cuts, 185 positions will be in production and 40 of administrative staff. Only the headquarters will be spared in Davézieux (Ardèche). Management announced it will maintain its workforce (25 employees) until the end of 2013. Some former employees of GPV may take up the possibility to create a cooperative before the end of December to preserve some positions, but no more than 30. GPV, number four in its market in 2010, has been in receivership since May 2011. The company has 358 employees in France and 568 throughout the EU with other facilities in the UK, in Bulgaria and Romania.
