Description

In September, E.ON management informed the headquarter staff at Duesseldorf by email that about half of the 800 posts will be cut. Following this, the works council calls for negotiations to prevent direct dismissals in 2011/2012.

In August 2011, it has been announced that German energy company E.ON is considering to cut up to 6,000 jobs in Germany by implementing a restructuring programme called 'E.ON 2.0'. According to some rumours, the restructuring programme has emerged following the recommendations of a businesss strategy consultant company that advised E.ON to downsize the number of employees as other companies in the energy sector operate with comparatively much less staff. On the other hand, E.ON restructuring is triggered by changes in German energy and nuclear power plant policies.
