Description
Steelmaker Tata announced on 14 September 2011 that it will cut 1000 jobs in the coming four years, to be able to better compete with other global players in the sector. The company intends to apply restructuring measures without using forced dismissals. The company representative mentioned that around 500 employees will retire in the next four years and 350 employees that might be affected from restructuring, it will be assumingly possible to find other jobs easier. Both the unions and the works council have strongly objected the upcoming restructuring plans. They state that it will not be easily possible to reach the goals of the company with 1000 less workforce.
