Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Babilou, a family company specialising in the management of day-nurseries, expects to recruit 600 employees in 2011. The total workforce will increase from 2,500 to 3,000 before the end of the year. Babilou expect to create between 25 and 30 new units each year.
The company was founded in 2003 and its turnover has increased from 100 million euros in 2010 to 140 million euros in 2011. The market is growing fast as the government wants to create 100,000 places in day-nurseries before the end of 2012, including 20,000 places operated by the private sector.
Babilou has opened a day-nursery specifically for large companies, municipalities and inter-companies. To establish a day-nursery, the Family allowance fund (Caisse d'allocations familiales - financed by social contributions) puts up 300,000 euro as a portion of a total amount of 800,000 euro.
