Description

ENVC SHIPYARD, a shipyard located in Viana do Castelo, announced the dismissal of 380 of their current work force of 720 till the end of 2011. The workforce reduction is included in a large restructuring plan. The shipyard justifies the dismissal as being the only possible solution because of a lack of orders. The company closed their books in 2010 with a loss of €40 million and liabilities of over €400 million. The Works Council and the Board will start negotiations soon.
