Description

Blue1, a Finnish airline and a member of the SAS Group since 1998, has announced plans to reduce its services and lay off up to 85 employees.

Blue1 is starting negotiations with employee representatives on the proposed layoffs. The negotiations will start on 30 June 2011 and all staff members are included.

The company blames the job cuts on increasing competition and weakening profitability. The airline carrier will eliminate six routes from Helsinki to European destinations. It will also remove five planes from its fleet.
