Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 11 May 2011, director of Przedsiębiorstwo Górnicze Silesia Jirzi Pasztika announced that the company plans to hire additional 182 workers by the end of 2011. In the fall 2010 the coal mine in Czechowice-Dziedzice, which was part of Kompania Węglowa, was acquired by Czech company Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (EPH). From December 2010 to May 2011 the workforce of the mine was increased by 182 new workers. Furthermore the new owner plans to increase the extraction of coal and invest 100-150 million EUR within three years.
