French distance clothes retailer 3 Suisses International is to eliminate 249 jobs by the end of 2011. Some 149 job cuts will be implemented through direct dismissals and will result from the closure of 35 shops in France. The company has also announced a voluntary redundancy scheme open to 100 employees in the sales and marketing departments.
In February 2009, the company had already laid off 674 workers due to a decrease of mail orders and increase of online sales which needs less employees and investments.
3 Suisses International operates in 16 countries and employs around 8,500 people worldwide.
