Description

The government has announced 43,000 job cuts in the armed forces before 2015.  "While some of these reductions will be achieved through a decrease in recruiting and not replacing those who leave, there will still need to be around 11,000 redundancies", according to a UK Ministry of Defence press release. Cuts include 5,000 Royal Air Force roles, 5,000 Navy personnel and 7,000 army personnel as well as 25,000 civilian Ministry of Defence staff.  The British army has said that it would lose 1,000 personnel and the navy 1,600 in this years around of job losses.  The Royal Air Force announced plans to lay-off 2,700 in this round of redundancies.
