Pharmaceutical group Sanofi-Aventis is to reorganize its European operations and cut up to 700 jobs by reducing its number of European subsidiaries from 30 to 10. The restructuring will affect Portugal (140 job losses), Germany (277 job losses), Belgium (87 job losses) and the Netherlands (70 job losses). Plants in Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, and United Kingdom are also affected. Sanofi-Aventis plans to implement the restructuring gradually throughout Europe. There is no information on when the job losses will be implemented by.
