Description

On 17 February, the cleaning and pest control services company Ecolab announced that it would undertake a restructuring of its European operations, beginning in the first quarter of 2011 and lasting for three years. It expects 900 jobs to be eliminated in Europe as a result. Although it has not as yet specified where the job losses will fall, it has operations in 17 EU Member States and Norway. This European transformation plan aims to substantially improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its Europe business, sharpen its competitiveness and accelerate its growth and profitability. Ecolab has stated that it will work with its various works councils in Europe to develop and finalise implementation plans.
