Description

Sheffield City Council has announced 270 jobs will be cut over the next financial year as the local authority looks to save £80m. Union Unison said it was concerned some services would not be provided or operate at the same level. However, according to the Council, child protection and adult social care services will be protected.

UPDATE 4.3.11

More than 400 jobs have already been cut this year at Liverpool council as a result of voluntary redundancies or unfilled vacancies. A further 270 jobs will still be lost in the next financial year.
