Description

Finnair Tekniikka, the maintenance unit of Finnish airline Finnair, announced plans to cut up to 450 jobs.

Finnair Tekniikka is starting mandatory negotiations with employee representatives. It plans to stop selling maintenance services to outside clients and focus on servicing its own fleet. According to Finnair Tekniikka, it cannot compete with outside providers of maintenance services.

Negotiations are taking place between Finnair Tekniikka and five unions. A representative of one of the unions described worker's reactions as "confused and disappointed." In his view, employees have "done their share in order to keep their jobs."
