Description

On 5 January, the solar cells manufacturer Photowatt announced it is to cut 195 jobs (permanent posts) at its Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère) site. The French subsidiary of the Canadian group ATS has to compensate for a large sales price decrease (-45% since 2008). The group also announced its intention to help offset the job loss by recruiting 100 workers for product development.

Update 04-02-2011: In addition to the 195 job losses announced earlier, in February Photowatt announced to cut 136 temporary worker's positions at its site in Bourgoin-Jalllieu. Reportedly the jobs will be delocalised to Poland.
