On 13 December 2010, LM Wind Power Service & Logistics, the world largest manufacturer of wind turbine blades, announced plans to hire 200 employees for the newly opened Service Centre in Szczecin. 137 contracts were signed before December 2010. The rest of the estimated 200 should join within the next few months. The centre provides services for customers across Europe.
The idea of this Service Centre was started when LM Glasfiber, Danish producer of airscrew blades for air turbines, opened its factory in Goleniów by Szczecin in March 2009. The centre was located in Szczecin because of proximity of wind farms in Western Europe and company's training centre in Germany.
