European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Novelis, a foil and packaging firm, announced up to 319 job losses due to the closure of its aluminium foil production at its Bridgnorth site by the end of April 2011. The closure is blamed on the over capacity in the European foil market. The announcement came at the end of the company's 90-day consultation with employees at the site. Novelis said the closure, which included moving business into its other European plants, aimed to improve the firm's competitiveness.
