Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 1 December DayBreak Data, an American Information Technology company, announced it started operating from Malta. DayBreak Data is planning to engage around 100 new employees by the end of 2011, 250 employees by the end of 2012, 500 by end of 2013 and a total of 1,000 employees by end of 2014. DayBreak aims to attract quality staff members by offering them 20 per cent over fair market value.
DayBreak Data has yet to decide upon the exact locality where it shall base its offices. SmartCity, Sliema, Ta' Xbiex and Mriehel were all named as possible contenders.
DayBreak Data is is the creator of one of the world's largest and most comprehensive contact list databases.
