The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 3 December 2010, the sea transport company SeaFrance announced it would cut 279 positions, following a previous workforce reduction phase back in October 2010 involving 80 employees. A few months ago SeaFrance, owned by the rail transport company SNCF, went into receivership and SNCF is currently discussing the possible sale of this subsidiary with four other companies.
