Wotan Forest, a Czech forest company, has announced between 400 and 500 job cuts (i.e. almost one-half of the staff) after being unsuccessful in a public tender (organized by the state forest company Lesy ÄŒR). According to Pavel DraÅ¡tÃk, general manager of Wotan Forest, public tenders discriminate against large companies. In general, public tenders are criticized by forest firms for the lack of transparency. As of November 2010, there is no information on when dismissals are to be carried out.
