Description
Northumbria Police has announced that it is to cut 450 civilian posts as a result of £34m cuts to its budget. Sue Sim, Chief constable, said police officer jobs would not be affected. The police force has frozen recruitment and looked at other ways of saving money. It hopes that most job losses can be made through natural wastage.
UPDATE 16.2.11
Northumbria Police has announced that 1,100 jobs will be cut, double the amount previously announced. 318 officer posts and 825 civilian jobs are being lost.
